Join us this Thursday August 27 at 12:30pm for the next Badger Crop Connect Webinar!
Focus on Soil
Andrew Stammer, UW Soil and Forage Lab director, will present a summary of Wisconsin soil test results. The UW Soil and Forage Lab has completed a recent review of trends in Wisconsin soil test results. What has changed across the state over time? Andrew will share phosphorus, potassium, pH, and organic matter levels. Come and learn how this big data can help you gain insight into your farm’s soil test trends.
Rianne Wagner, an agronomy graduate student in Dr. Shawn Conley’s CoolBean lab, will discuss phosphorus enhancement products designed to improve phosphorus availability and uptake in crop production, helping plants access more of the phosphorus already present in the soil. What categories do these products fall into? When are the products used? Can they increase phosphorus use efficiency, support early-season crop growth, and potentially reduce fertilizer losses? The session does not promote any products but emphasizes evaluating products through local research and reviewing university research, soil conditions, and economic returns to determine where they fit.
