🚨Training announcement reminder! 🚨

The Baraga Fire Department is hosting a Liquid Propane Gas Emergencies training on August 27th, 2026. The training is open to all firefighters in Baraga, Iron, Ontonagon, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Marquette Counties Area Fire Departments. The training will be located at the Baraga Fire Department at 100 Hemlock St. Baraga, MI 49908

The Michigan Propane Gas Association (MPGA) is pleased to announce that it will bring its Propane Emergency Training course to your area.The course includes both an indoor and outdoor training.
* Onsite registration will begin at 5:30 p.m
* The indoor training will begin at 6:00 p.m.
* The outdoor, live fire portion of the training will begin immediately after the indoor portion concludes.

The course does qualify for continuing education credits through the Bureau of Fire Services. You can register online in the SMOKE system. The course number is 2026-1-07-L16A-0265.

The training is available at no cost to you as the MPGA continues to fully fund this program for you and your personnel. The MPGA is committed to safety and is offering this “hands-on” training opportunity to all area fire departments that want to participate.

The outdoor component is live fire training. Full turn out gear and SCBA are required.

EMT Class - Contact Bay Ambulance at 906-353-6196 for additional information or if you will be applying. There will be an EMT class starting August 25th. With the short time frame please go to the website to apply. https://www.uphealthsystem.com/marquette/school-of-emt-emergency-medical-technician

The class will run from August 25, 2026 through April 17, 2027. It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 pm and will include 200 hours of classroom, practical skills lab, and clinical time. Students will be required to participate in clinical at approved EMS agencies and Hospital Emergency Departments.

Application requirements include passing a background check, drug screen, physical, and purchase of a text book.

There is a 10 student minimum in order for Baraga (Bay Ambulance) to be a host site.

Join us for Camp 911 for Seniors on Thursday, July 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Baraga Township Building. This free, interactive event will provide valuable information on emergency preparedness, hands-only CPR, fall prevention, scams and personal safety, fire safety, Project Lifesaver, K-9 demonstrations, and much more.

🚨🚨ATTENTION🚨🚨 Please note that access to the Baraga Marina will be restricted during the fireworks display. If you need to access your watercraft, please do so before 9:30pm. The fireworks display starts at dusk. For safety reasons, we request that the public avoid entering the marina during this time. Only essential personnel from local law enforcement, fire departments, and EMS will be permitted to be present. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Happy 4th of July from the Baraga Fire Department!

We have hot dogs, brats, burgers, cheeseburgers, nacho’s, cotton candy, pop, Gatorade, and waters for sale! We also have our 4th of July Cash Raffle, 1st prize $500, 2nd prize $200 and 3rd prize $50, $5 per ticket. Drawing will be after the main parade.

The Baraga Fire Department Auxiliary is also doing a 50/50 raffle. $5 per ticket or for 5 tickets for $20. Drawing will be after the parade.
