Barberton Area Jaycees

Barberton Area Jaycees We do offer Associate Memberships to interested citizens 18-20 & 41+! The Jaycees Creed:

We Believe...
That God gives meaning and purpose to human life.

Founded in 1944, the Barberton Area Jaycees is a nonprofit organization of young active citizens age 21 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations. That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise,
That government should be of laws rather than of men,
That Earth's greatest

treasure lies in human personality. And that service to humanity is the best work of life! About The US. Junior Chamber (Jaycees)
Henry “Hy” Giessenbier visualized an organization that would allow young men to develop their business skills and reputations in the community. In his era, most young men were out of school and working by the age of 15. Their first jobs were most likely the jobs they held throughout their lives. With luck and hard work, some might reach executive positions by their forties. Giessenbier felt that young men were not receiving the opportunities necessary to develop their skills at a younger age, thus depriving our nation of an important resource and so he formed the founding ideals of the U.S. Junior Chamber. We here at the Barberton Area Jaycees carry on Hy's vision to this day! Not only do we provide young people a unique opportunity to achieve a public presence in the community while learning valuable skills they can take use to advance their careers, they also get to work along side like minded people while making positive changes in the lives of others. Be it through one of our programs, (like our Back to School Program, Thanksgiving Basket Program, or Project Santa) or participating in our general meetings, each and every one of our members can and do make a difference! Take pride in the Barberton area, and be a part of rebuilding our community! Join today!

Friendly reminder….dont line up to watch the parade tomorrow on the west side. It’s starting at the high school and making its way downtown. If in doubt, sit on 2nd street, Tusc or around the 3 sides of the lake that aren’t on the War Memorial side. Ends at St Augustine.

The Barberton Area Jaycees have decided that they will be reducing the scope and scale of their Christmas Light display on the Masonic Temple this year. This only pertains to the lights on the Masonic Temple and not the lights that belong to the City of Barberton. We have no reason to believe that the city will not have the regular lights at Lake Anna and City Hall. We do have some light fixtures that are custom made for the Masonic Temple and we plan to put them back on the building and make them more of a low key display. They will not have programming to music like in past years.

We are looking at other options to move the display. We will be looking into all options including the possiblilty of setting up a drive through display where we can charge by the car for viewing or looking for a company who would like to sponsor the Jaycees to put the display on their property.

While we really do enjoy the Christmas Walk and Christmas Light show we have put on for the last 7 years, we feel like it is time to look into other options to try and save the organization.

Thank You for your support over the last 7 years. We will make an announcement regarding where/if our light show ends up elsewhere so the citizens who enjoy the show will have a chance to go check out the show.
