Dear Barberton City Schools Community,
As we close another school year in Barberton City Schools, it is important to take a moment to reflect on the progress we have made together and the direction that continues to guide our work through Destination 2030.
This year has been filled with growth, opportunity, and challenges that required all of us to stay focused on what matters most, our students. Along the way, our staff, students, families, and community continued to demonstrate the core value we emphasized throughout the month of May: RESILIENCE.
Resilience is more than perseverance during difficult moments. It is the ability to continue moving forward with purpose, optimism, and determination even when the work is demanding. Every day this school year, we saw resilience displayed in our classrooms, on our stages and athletic fields, in our offices, on our buses, and throughout our District. Our students continued learning, our staff continued serving, and our families continued supporting one another in ways that strengthen the Barberton City Schools.
As we look ahead, summer break often means different things to different people. For students, it is a well-earned opportunity to rest, recharge, explore interests, spend time with family, and prepare for new opportunities ahead. For our staff, it provides a chance to reflect on the accomplishments of the year while also planning for continued growth and improvement.
For a school system, however, summer is far from a pause. It is a season of preparation and progress. Throughout the summer months, teams across the district will continue working to improve facilities, strengthen programs, prepare classrooms, support summer learning opportunities, and plan for another successful school year. The work of serving students and families continues because our commitment to the Barberton City Schools extends well beyond the final day of school.
Destination 2030 reminds us that meaningful progress happens through consistent effort over time. This school year moved us one step closer to our shared vision for the future of Barberton City Schools, and that progress is only possible because of the dedication and resilience of our entire Barberton schools’ community.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, Board of Education, and community partners for your continued support, commitment, and belief in our schools. I hope everyone has a safe, restful, and rewarding summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall as we continue moving Destination 2030 forward together.
Sincerely,
Jason Ondrus
