Last Friday, our Veterans were fortunate to spend a day relaxing and boating at Cave Run Lake. These outings are far more than just a change of scenery; they are essential for our Veterans' mental, physical, and social well-being.

We want to give a shout out to The American Legion Huntington Post 16 & American Legion Post 93 for hosting Bingo for our veterans this week. Our veterans are grateful for your continued support, entertainment, and conversations. Unfortunately, we did not get photos while unit 16 wad here. But below are some photos from 93's visit. As always, G.I. Tucker can be seen supervising.

The WV Veterans Home receives amazing support from members of the community, Veteran Service Organizations, church groups, and countless others. This morning, “Boardgame Becky” as our veterans call her, graciously donated $2,000 for improvements to our gym/weight room. This area or our Recreation Building is outdated and in need of new equipment and supplies. Thank you Becky for your continued support and dedication to our veterans.

Yesterday, The Greater Huntington VFW, hosted their monthly Bingo for our veterans. Our veterans always look forward to your visits. Thank you for your continued support!

The West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance announced today that updated draft rules governing the West Virginia Military Hall of Fame are now open for public review and comment. Members of the public, Veterans, service members, and advocacy organizations are invited to submit feedback on the proposed standards through September 11, 2026.

The proposed rules establish updated guidelines for the nomination, selection, and induction process for the West Virginia Military Hall of Fame, ensuring the program appropriately honors exemplary service, valor, and contributions of West Virginia Veterans and military personnel.

Today 8 of our veterans are enjoying a trip to King's Island. Trips and activities like these are an vital part of their overall well-being improving their mental, physical, and social health. Our recreation department ensures a variety of activities are planned to meet the various needs, abilities, and interests of our veterans both on and off site.
