West Virginia Veterans Home A warm, attractive, and comfortable “home” for the West Virginia Veterans

The West Virginia Veterans Home is located in the Village of Barboursville, fifteen miles from downtown Huntington. This home for West Virginia veterans was authorized in 1975 and became a reality in 1981. Since that time The West Virginia Veterans Home has embraced helping veterans to enhance themselves during times in their life when it is needed.

Today, on the anniversary of D-Day, we honor the incredible bravery, sacrifice, and resolve of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago.

On June 6, 1944, operation "Overlord" brought together more than 150,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen in a monumental turning point for global freedom. They faced unimaginable odds, yet their courage paved the way for the liberation of Europe.

We remember those who gave everything, thank the Veterans who are still with us, and recommit ourselves to the ideals they fought to protect.

Come see us today from 11-1 at The Nitro Wars Museum.

H Scott Shreve and Scott Terry worked into the night yesterday and managed to get the deck completed except the roof! As usual, Tucker was there to supervise.

This has been a big project and we are proud of the work they have accomplished!

Today we were honored to have Mr. Rick Caldwell assist us with our deck build. Rick has countless years of carpentry experience and is the proud uncle of our resident & Army Veteran, Mr. Troy Tassen. Rick is pictured below working hard alongside Scott and saying hello to his nephew Troy.

Thank you Rick for both the hard work you put in today and sharing your knowledge!
