Knox County Public Schools A Preschool - 12th grade school district in southeastern Kentucky. On our way to being a Top 10% school district in the state.

Our commitment to over 4,500 children spans twelve campuses. We have seven elementary schools with grades K-6, two middle schools with grades 7-8, two high schools with 9-12 enrollment, and two alternative education schools – Knox Appalachian School and the Learning Academy.

Help make an impact on Knox County's students. Please join Forcht Bank and the Knox County Sheriff's Office for Shop with a Sheriff 5K 2026! This is a fun 5K (run or walk) to be held on November 1st. Proceeds benefit the Knox County Sheriff's Shop with a Sheriff program.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of former coach Mitchell Madden.

Madden was Knox Central boys’ basketball coach for two seasons. He compiled a 43-18 record during his tenure. He led Knox Central to a 51st District championship in 2024 and to the 13th Region Tournament in both seasons.

Please keep Coach Madden's family, former players, colleagues, and all who knew him in your thoughts and prayers.
