Happy Friday! We're looking at a pleasant weekend ahead with mild weather and plenty of sun, so don't forget that sunscreen if headed to the pool. High temperatures each day will be in the 70s to lower 80s.

There is a risk of strong to severe thunderstorms today, primarily in the late afternoon and evening hours. The strongest storms will be capable of producing damaging winds. Heavy rainfall and localized flooding is also possible in any storm. Otherwise, very warm and humid today with highs well into the 80s.

Good morning! Scattered showers and thunderstorms will bring a risk of heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding today. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected again Wednesday. There is a marginal severe thunderstorm risk Wednesday with the main threat being damaging wind gusts. Additionally, any thunderstorms will likely be accompanied by heavy rain.

Good morning! Patchy fog dissipates by mid morning. A warm front will lift through the area later this morning and afternoon and bring milder temperatures. The chance for scattered showers and storms also increases this afternoon and evening, but we are not expecting a washout by any means. Even warmer on Memorial Day, though the chance for showers and storms is also higher.

Corolla Beach Rescue has issued 🟡yellow flags🟡 for our beaches today 05/23/2026!

Yellow flags mean that life threatening rip currents are possible. Only experienced surf swimmers should enter the water! Corolla Beach Rescue recommends staying shallow, using flotation, and exercising extreme caution when swimming. The ocean is not a place to test out your swimming abilities, especially on a yellow flag day!

Conditions can change throughout the day, please stay alert!

In case of emergency, call 9-1-1! 9-1-1 gets the lifeguard!

Generally cooler to start off the holiday weekend, with periods of rain light today mainly across the northern portion of the area. Areas south of Richmond will likely see limited rainfall accumulation through this evening, with drier conditions expected. The unsettled pattern will through mid-next week, leading to more chances for much needed rainfall.
