Last month I announced my decision to run for Nelson County School Board, District 1, because of my belief in the importance of strong public schools and my desire to serve the community that has given so much to my family.
Yesterday marked the filing deadline, and I learned that no other candidates filed for the District 1 seat. While I will be running unopposed in the November election, I do not take this opportunity for granted.
I am humbled by the encouragement, support, and trust so many of you have shown me throughout this process. The chance to serve our students, families, educators, and community is both an honor and a responsibility that I take seriously.
As I prepare to step into this role, my commitment remains the same: to listen thoughtfully, learn continuously, and make decisions that put students first. I believe our schools are strongest when we work together, respect different perspectives, and stay focused on what is best for children.
Thank you to everyone who has offered support, shared ideas, and encouraged me along the way. I look forward to earning your trust each day and serving District 1 with integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to the success of every student. Together, we can continue building on the strengths of our schools and creating opportunities for all children to learn, grow, and thrive.
