Nelson County Public Library Genealogy Where the doors of opportunity are open, to link you to your past. The collection includes sate regions that contributed to Kentucky's population.

The Genealogy Room of the Nelson County Public Library has the collection of the Nelson County Genealogical Roundtable and more! The Nelson County Genealogical Roundtable, incorporated in 1984, a non-profit organization, is supported by memberships, donations, book sales and grants. The purpose of this organization is to collect, preserve, perpetuate and publish genealogy and history of Nelson and

surrounding counties. That collection as well as additional records acquired by the library are available in The NCPL Genealogy Room. We also have computers with records and programs to assist with you ancestry search. As patron of the library you can access Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, Family Search, Find A Grave as well as Fold 3 (Military Records) and Pro Quest (Historical Courier Journal Newspapers).

Read this entry from the 1877 journal of a former student of St. Joseph College in Bardstown. The entire year's journal is digitized and available for reading in the Genealogy room of NCPL. John Fisher wrote daily of his routine at the college. The week shown here was October 11-14, 1877 and he writes about recreation time, going into the cave, playing football, etc... Enjoy!

The will of Solomon Beam, a man of color, from the Nelson County, Kentucky Will Book 16, page 82. Also here are the two pages of the appraisal from his estate in Will Book 16, pages 112-113. A new digital family file was created for Solomon Beam in the Genealogy Room of NCPL.

These digitized colored versions are from the Ben Johnson Collection, curated by Anne Willett, a direct descendant of Ben Johnson of Bardstown. Hours of the Genealogy Room are

Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
