Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, a turning point toward Allied victory in World War II. This war called on almost 400,000 Hoosiers to defend our nation’s freedom and claimed the lives of approximately 12,000 Indiana service members, leaving another 17,000 wounded. On D-Day, American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy to help alter the course of history forever. Their courage preserved freedom, and we remember these heroes, who embody the selfless service of the Greatest Generation.

Brett Scrogham was tragically murdered last week in Indianapolis. This bright and talented young Hoosier had just graduated from IU’s Kelley School of Business and began a new job as a Development Analyst. I offer my deepest condolences to Brett's family and friends.

From 2021 to 2024, millions of illegal immigrants crossed the southern border.

In 2025, President Donald J. Trump put in place tough border security policies and Congress provided new resources for enforcement and to combat drug smuggling and human trafficking.

As a result, we just marked an entire year of zero releases at the southern border.
