Park Rd and Slade RD are both closed at the intersection.

Both roads have a primary wire down crossing the intersection. A tree fell on Slade Rd bringing the wires down. Eversource has been notified with no ETA.

As the colder months quickly approach the departments of the Barkhamsted Fire District spent this past Tuesday evening at the Litchfield County Regional Fire School training on chimney fires.

All three departments worked together on multiple scenarios. Members refreshed on ladder raises, roof operations and interior operations.

This morning members from PVFD participated in a joint training exercise with Kent Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. and New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department on the Housatonic River in New Milford.

PVFD is a member of the Region 5 swift water rescue team. This team is currently made up of 6 fire departments. 3 in the northern part of Litchfield county and 3 in the southern.

Members navigated the river getting use to how each departments boat operates in different sections of the water.

As true today as it was 24 years ago. We strive to honor those who perished by continuing on.
