Every Exercise Strengthens Readiness.

Aircrew and maintainers from the 2nd Bomb Wing regularly participate in exercises designed to sharpen combat readiness in realistic operational environments.

During exercises, aircrews conduct preflight briefs, step to the aircraft, and take flight in the B-52H Stratofortress while maintainers perform inspections, repairs, and rapid loading for the aircraft. Together, these efforts strengthen the 2nd Bomb Wing’s ability to generate combat airpower in support of strategic deterrence.

Through every simulation, aircrews and maintainers focus on inspections, procedures and training opportunities, ensuring the 2nd Bomb Wing remains ready to project decisive combat capability whenever called upon.

Voting Assistance Anytime, Anywhere 🗳️🇺🇸

The Federal Voting Assistance Program recently held a workshop for volunteers becoming Voting Assistance Officers. The workshop specified how VAOs help Airmen and their families who are in the middle of moving between bases, in overseas deployments, or temporary duty assignments still exercise the right to vote.

J. Scott Wiedmann, FVAP’s director, briefed volunteers on how to become efficient Voting Assistant Officers, ready to help Airmen wherever they may be.

Residents on and near the installation may hear a loud noise during that time. As a reminder, this is a controlled event and there is no threat to the base or public.

Battle of the Badges 🎖️

Police Week brought friendly competition to Barksdale as teams of defenders and firefighters went head-to-head in the Battle of the Badges event. Teams tested their tactical skills, speed and strength through a series of events designed to build camaraderie and sharpen readiness.

Police Week not only honors our defenders, but also showcases how their readiness contributes to the overall success of the 2nd Bomb Wing mission.

A closer look at Bayou Vigilance 26-2.

The 2nd Bomb Wing successfully carried out Exercise Bayou Vigilance 26-2. Exercises like these test the wing’s ability to stand alert to deter or respond to attacks, and project lethal combat power across the globe.

Day and night, Airmen across the wing worked together to sharpen processes, test capabilities and strengthen the coordination required to carry out the mission.
