Congratulations to this year’s Military Affairs Council Scholarship Recipients! 🎉

Twenty high-performing Airmen were awarded scholarships to support their pursuit of higher education, all while simultaneously serving in defense of our nation.

The Shreveport-Bossier Military Affairs Council Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 to provide financial assistance to Airmen pursuing higher education.

Shoutout to Airman 1st Class Nichole Christie, 2nd Bomb Wing Legal Office paralegal for your contributions to the mission! Paralegals assist Airmen and their families every day with crucial legal readiness tasks, such as drafting powers of attorney and wills.

"As a paralegal, I have the privilege to work closely with Commanders, First Sergeants, and Senior Enlisted Leaders, supporting them and my attorneys as they operate at the center of command decision making," said Christie. "I am learning something new every single day. My job can be very challenging, but is also incredibly rewarding!"

Please join us in welcoming our newest commanders to Team Barksdale!

The 2nd Bomb Wing recently welcomed commanders during a series of formal change of command ceremonies. Rooted in Air Force tradition, these ceremonies symbolize the transfer of authority, responsibility, and trust from one leader to the next.

As each commander accepted their unit’s guidon, they took on the responsibility of leading their Airmen and advancing the mission with dedication and integrity. We’re excited to have them join the Barksdale family, and we look forward to the leadership and impact they will bring to the team!

Aircraft Metals Technology Airmen repair cracked and damaged aircraft parts, fabricate metal components when replacements aren't available and use precision welding to restore the strength and integrity of critical structures. Their work keeps our B-52s flying safely and ensures they're ready whenever the mission calls.

Our Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is conducting controlled detonations tomorrow, 21 July, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Residents on and near the installation may hear a loud noise during that time. As a reminder, this is a controlled event and there is no threat to the base or public.

Congratulations to MWD Ezster on her well-deserved retirement! 🐕‍🦺🎖️

After six years of service at Barksdale AFB, MWD Ezster is beginning her next mission: retirement.

Throughout her career, she supported critical operations, including a deployment, multiple Secret Service taskers and countless hours of dedicated training to help keep safe.

Now, Ezster’s days will be filled with the things every good dog deserves: treats, toys, naps and plenty of time relaxing. Thank you, Ezster, for your years of faithful service!

Barksdale’s 2nd annual Balloon Glow; A chance to unwind with a fun night, entertainment and good food 🎈🥳

Thank you to the Military Affairs Council and our community partners for organizing this unique event for our Airmen and their families. Attendees had the opportunity to jump inside tethered hot air balloons and catch views of Barksdale's sunset from a different perspective. Events like these help strengthen our community.
