Yesterday River Valley Master Gardeners and the Sebastian County Horticulture Agent planted the Arkansas Diamonds trial at The Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing. This demonstration is meant to study how certain flowering annuals perform.

The trial is on public display in the Cutting Garden at The Learning Fields 7300 Gardener Avenue, Fort Smith

With all the rain recently you may start seeing these slime molds show up on your wood mulch. Affectionately named “Dog Vomit Fungus” this and other slime molds love wet weather and decaying wood.

While they look gross they’re not harmful and will go away once the weather dries up. These were found in the pumpkin patch at The Learning Fields.

We had a great time last week with the 8th grade students at Darby Middle School. Students participated in the Get Real, Here's the Deal program.

Through the program they learned about real world impacts of financial literacy and decisions. 💰💳✏️

Our 4-H staff🍀 delivered an engaging and exciting program to the Science club at Westwood this week! Bioluminescence in plants and animals is so fun, especially when you can incorporate glow sticks and a glowing liquid experiment. 🧪 Megan and Allisyn may have had more fun than the students on this one! 🌟

Exploring Science Club got to experience an amazing lesson on bioluminescence. Huge thank you to Mrs. Allisyn and Mrs. Megan from 4-H for bringing all the glow day fun. These junior scientists concluded this was the best day ever!
