Sandy Point Shoal Lighthouse can be seen from the shore of Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis MD. Built in 1883, the three story building is 24 square feet but has the corners trimmed, giving it an octagonal look. The light was automated in 1963.
Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, the lighthouse was auctioned off to private owners who are hoping to restore it to its original beauty.

Some wonderful news from East Point Lighthouse! Thanks to all who helped to make this happen. Looking forward to visiting again!

Well ... I just sent off the approved and signed License agreement to the NJ DEP to mange East Point Lighthouse. It's not perfect but we were able to get what was needed to hopefully protect both the lighthouse and society. I still have a bunch of paperwork to get off to them as well but ... anyway ... been a long bumpy road ... but next weekend(8/21 & 8/22) East Point Lighthouse should be open again and we will be back to work trying to save this important place and keep it open to the public for generations to come ... WoooOOHooOOO!!! Thank you all for your prayers ... and HUGE thanks to Senator Testa & Congressman Van Drew and their crew for all their hard work in helping to bring this much needed step to completion. We couldn't have done it without you all!!! Still a way to go ... but this is great progress!!! BIG thanks to all who called, wrote letters of support and those who prayed too! TEAM work in action once again!!! Now the real work can start again. Continued prayers appreciated. Thank God & thank you all! Now to finish up the paperwork needed ... yikes ...
