Barnegat Lighthouse State Park

Barnegat Lighthouse State Park One of NJ's most recognized landmarks. 172 foot lighthouse built in 1858. First lit January 1,1859.

From November 2022 through March 2023 the gates close at 4pm everyday. Lighthouse is currently closed until Spring 2023 for interior repairs.

Are you joining us for a night climb this evening?
On Saturday, August 29, join the Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park for an Old Barney night climb from 6:30 to 9 p.m (last climber ascends at 8:30 pm). There will also be live music by Bayside Ukulele Club. This fun event is free of charge!

South jetty rebuild, circa 1990!
Per the Army Corps of Engineers, the first south jetty, built in 1940, "had not worked as projected" and actually created a "hazard to navigation." So, a new south jetty was constructed and completed in 1991.
