Behind every breakfast served and every lunch prepared is a dedicated team of School Nutrition Professionals committed to nourishing the students of Lamar County Schools.

Each school day, our team works tirelessly to ensure that students have access to nutritious, high-quality meals that help them learn, grow, and succeed. From early morning preparation to serving thousands of meals across our four schools, their hard work, dedication, and care make a difference in the lives of our students every single day.

During the 2025-2026 school year, our School Nutrition Program proudly served:

• 29,639 Breakfasts
• 75,789 Lunches
Lamar County Middle School
• 31,586 Breakfasts
• 68,231 Lunches
Lamar County Elementary School
• 42,438 Breakfasts
• 78,349 Lunches
Lamar County Primary School
• 46,907 Breakfasts
• 75,224 Lunches

That's a total of more than 448,000 meals served to our students!

A special thank you goes to our incredible team of 23 permanent staff members, 7 daily substitutes, and 7 on-call substitute nutrition assistants who make it all possible. Their commitment to serving healthy meals with a smile helps create a positive school experience for every student.

Investing in Growth, Leadership, and Connection!

Today, we’re proud to recognize and celebrate our team members who are attending the 6th District PEP (Professional Enrichment Program) event at Griffin Region College & Career Academy. This exciting day will be filled with engaging sessions, networking opportunities, professional development, and collaboration with school nutrition professionals from across the district.

Opportunities like PEP help strengthen our knowledge, inspire new ideas, and build connections that ultimately benefit the students and communities we serve every day. We are grateful for Ms Liz (Central Office), Ms. Carol (LCMS), Ms. Rocky and Ms. Jane (LCHS), who are committed to continuous learning, leadership development, and bringing fresh perspectives back to our program.

Investing in leadership, learning, and the future of school nutrition!

Lamar County School Nutrition is proud to have Dawn St. Michel, GSNA System Level Chair and GSNA Culinary Co-Chair, alongside Liz Tworek, Lamar County School Nutrition in local President, participating in the 2026-2027 Georgia School Nutrition Association Executive Board Orientation and Leadership Training at Unicoi State Park & Lodge in beautiful Helen, Georgia.

Over the course of this impactful training, leaders from across the state are coming together to strengthen their leadership skills, collaborate with fellow school nutrition professionals, and prepare for another year of serving Georgia’s students with excellence. Through board orientation sessions, leadership development workshops, and networking opportunities, participants are gaining valuable tools and insights that will help shape the future of school nutrition programs statewide!

That’s right! Schools get just $4.70 to cover the cost of a lunch.

After paying for staff, equipment, utilities, supplies, and federal compliance, less than half goes to the actual food.

And every single morning, school cafeteria teams are showing up anyway.

Preferred Qualifications:
School Nutrition experience preferred
ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Must be available to begin work at 6:00 a.m. on all student attendance days
