EMERGENCY NOTICE 🔥

The State of Georgia is currently under a State of Emergency due to active wildfire conditions across multiple areas of the state.

While there are no active wildfires reported in Barnesville or Lamar County at this time, current weather conditions—including dry vegetation, low humidity, and wind—place our community at an increased risk for fire ignition and rapid spread.

🚨 We are asking all residents to take the following precautions:
• Avoid all outdoor burning
• Properly dispose of ci******es and smoking materials
• Do not leave grills, fire pits, or flames unattended
• Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass
• Use caution with equipment that may produce sparks
• Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911

Even a small spark can quickly become a dangerous situation under current conditions.

Barnesville Police Department is actively monitoring the situation and working alongside local and state partners to ensure the safety of our community.
