Community Card Shower Brings Smiles to Callum
We had a special visitor today in the Barneveld Fair Day Parade! Callum came to collect all the birthday cards that were sent from all of our surrounding communities. What started as a frightening day on September 13th has been transformed into an amazing reminder of hope, gratitude, and the strength of small-town support.
Today, Callum & his sister got the chance to ride in a Barneveld Fire Truck during the parade. Callum also had the chance to use the Iowa County 911 radio system to thank the dispatchers, deputies, EMS, firefighters, Med Flight crew, and everyone who came together for him and his family that Saturday morning. His smile and voice over the airwaves are a testament to the difference our first responders make every day.
This is a proud moment for Iowa County. We thank every community member who has taken the time to lift Callum’s spirits, and we especially thank our emergency responders for their compassion, courage, and unwavering service. Without them, so many family stories — including Callum’s — would be very different.
