Happy First Responder Day to all of our members of BBFD. Thank you for all you do to keep those in our community safe and all the neighbors around us. Also to BARS thank you for all you do for our communities. To our neighbors, thank you for helping us out when needed, we appreciate you all. Lastly to our law enforcement, dispatch, and jailers. Thank you for keeping us protected and guiding us through each call with professionalism. We appreciate you all.

Barneveld-Brigham Fire Department would like to thank all of our guest who came out to support us at our 2025 BBFD Sportsman Banquet. About a year and half ago I started working on a FEMA Assitance to Firefighters Grant for new Air Packs. To say the least it was one of the most challenging and frustrating things to do. Because of all the challenges we faced I was not able to get our application in for the 2024 grant deadline. With a lot of hard work and help from our Fire District Secretary/Treasurer Megan we were able to get a new account set up so we could apply for the 2025 AFG Grant. I spent a lot of time filling out the paperwork and my Assistant Chief Karl Sandry assisting with the narrative we were able to get our application in on time. We wrote the grant for $182,500.00. I received an email yesterday that the BBFD was awarded the grant for $178,350.00. We will have to pay 5% of that amount so the final awarded will be $169,857.00. This will allow BBFD to purchase 18 new air packs, 18 spare bottles, and a new face piece for all our members. I am beyond excited to be awarded this and want to thank Megan and Karl for there hard work on this project with me. It was a stressful project but very rewarding in the end.

September 13 Pool Incident leads to Community Card Shower for 5-Year-Old Callum

Barneveld, WI — On the morning of Saturday, September 13, Iowa County Sheriff’s Office 911 received a call regarding an unresponsive 5-year-old male, later identified as Callum, who was located in a pool at Deer Valley Lodge.

Iowa County Deputies, Barneveld EMS, and Barneveld Brigham Fire Department were dispatched immediately. Life-saving measures were performed by bystanders and emergency personnel. UW Med Flight, based out of the Mineral Point hangar, arrived on scene to assist and continue care. Callum was flown to UW Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

Callum's family has expressed their deepest gratitude for the swift response and tireless efforts of first responders, medical teams, and community members during this tragic event.

Because this occurred during Callum’s birthday celebration, emergency responders have requested a special way to make Callum smile because he is always making others smile and lift his spirit: a community card shower. This effort has been made with the full approval and request of Callum’s family.
