From The Founder-
Missing the flavors of Jamaica, I founded Backyaad Jerk & Pastry Co. on Cape Cod alongside my husband, Justin, to share my culture’s rich traditions and hospitality. We specialize in authentic, small-batch recipes, including homemade patties, drinks, and jerk dishes.
What started as cooking comfort food for family evolved into a growing local business. Fun fact: the first time I ever made Jamaican patties, we completely sold out! Today, we love connecting with our community through festivals and farmers markets, bringing people together over memorable, flavorful meals that make everyone feel right at home.

Many of our makers started exactly where you are—testing recipes at night, producing on weekends, and building a customer base while keeping the security of a full-time job.

At the Cape Cod Culinary Incubator in Hyannis, the Lee Hill shared commercial kitchen gives you access to the licensed space, equipment, and support you need to launch legally and affordably—without the expense of opening your own facility.

From the Founder-
Baking has always been my love language—from birthday cakes to girls' night cookies—but I eventually ran out of people to feed! After diving into the world of nutrition, I began recreating my favorite treats using only whole, clean ingredients, and with a little push from family and friends, I decided to take the leap and share them with everyone.

My ultimate dream is for my treats to become a morning ritual at local cafes and a 'must-grab' at specialty markets. I want people to walk into their favorite shop, see “the spoon”, and know they’re getting something delicious with high quality ingredients they can trust.

The Cape has always been my creative reset button and the place where my love for hosting—and baking—really took off. The boutique coastal vibe of the Cape definitely inspired the look and feel of the brand—I wanted my treats to feel like that first breath of Cape summer salty air: clean, refreshing, and something you look forward to.

What sets us apart is proving that a yummy treat can be made just as good (if not better) with simple, honest ingredients. By focusing on clean-label, whole foods, I’ve created a product that satisfies your cravings while leaving you feeling vibrant and fueled.

The mini loaves… a total accident! I ordered the wrong size pans, but the moment the first batch came out of the oven, I realized they were perfect. I wouldn't have it any other way now—a happy accident.

All of the products are organic, gluten free, refined sugar free, seed oil free. Pre ordering is currently Fridays at 9am-Sundays at 9pm

A busy week ahead in the kitchen. Not only are our current members starting to ramp up for the busy market season but we have 4 potential members coming in for a tour/talk. Hopefully we can help them & their business to either get off the ground or raise their game to the next level. Then later in the week one of our current members is having the state come down to take the final step in getting their wholesale license. Having the ability to do that in our kitchen can be a real game changer for someone looking for a career change
