🫀 New Public-Access AED at the Barre Town Recreation Field

A public-access Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is now available at the pickleball and tennis courts located at 46 Websterville Road in Barre, Vermont.

This AED is available for anyone to use during a cardiac emergency. When the AED cabinet is opened:

The system automatically calls 911. Speak directly with the emergency dispatcher through the cabinet.
A security camera records the person opening the cabinet.
GPS technology allows the AED’s location to be tracked in real time.

This AED is preloaded with Adult pads, inside the case there are pediatric pads that can be plugged in, if needed.

If someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, call 911, begin CPR, retrieve the AED, and follow its spoken instructions. You do not need medical training—the AED will guide you through each step and will deliver a shock only if one is needed.

Please help us keep this lifesaving equipment secure, accessible, and ready for an emergency.

Over the past two days, EMSAR New England has been at our East Barre Station completing annual preventive maintenance on our stretchers, Power-LOAD systems, and stair chairs.

As our ambulance fleet continues to grow, so does the work required to keep our equipment safe, reliable, and ready to respond. Paul from EMSAR New England does an outstanding job helping us maintain that readiness.

If you saw a collection of ambulances at our East Barre Station over the past couple of days, now you know why!

Thank you, Paul and EMSAR New England, for helping us stay ready to serve our communities.

Thank you, Northfield Savings Bank, for continuing to put the community at the heart of your mission.

Kaelee and our team of CPR, First Aid, and AED instructors had the pleasure of working with Melissa and her team to coordinate this important training. Together, we helped prepare Northfield Savings Bank staff to confidently respond in an emergency and support the deployment of their new life-saving AED equipment.

We appreciate Northfield Savings Bank's commitment to the safety and well-being of both its employees and the communities it serves. Partnerships like these help make our communities safer, one trained responder at a time.

Last year, Barre Town EMS purchased a state-of-the-art Laerdal SimMan Critical Care high-fidelity simulation system to enhance the training and education of our providers. After spending time learning the system and integrating it into our training program, we're ready for the next step—but we need your help!

Our newest "staff member" needs a name, and we're asking the community to help us choose one. Use the survey link below to submit your suggestions. Once we've selected the perfect name, we'll announce both the winning name and the community member who suggested it.

A Little About SimMan Critical Care:

SimMan Critical Care is an advanced patient simulator capable of replicating a wide range of medical emergencies and critical care scenarios. It allows EMS providers to train in a realistic, hands-on environment, helping them develop and refine the skills needed to care for patients during some of their most challenging moments.

Thank you for helping us welcome our newest team member!

We will keep this link active until July 30th.
