Today, June 19th, we join communities across the country in recognizing Juneteenth — a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States and celebrates the strength, resilience, and enduring contributions of Black Americans.

As a borough, we are proud to acknowledge this important moment in our nation's history and recommit ourselves to the values of freedom, dignity, and equality for all.

Wishing everyone in our community a meaningful and joyful Juneteenth.

🇺🇸 Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with us in style! 🇺🇸

Join us on Thursday, July 2nd for Barrington’s annual Independence Day festivities!

🎺 Independence Day Parade – 6:00pm
The parade will follow our normal route, kicking off at the Old Rail Tavern, which will feature live music and outdoor seating along a closed portion of Reading Avenue.

🎆 Fireworks at Dusk
Stick around after the parade and enjoy a spectacular fireworks display, typically beginning between 9:00–9:30 PM. Our fireworks show is aerial, meaning it can be seen from many locations throughout town, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the celebration.

More great things from this week! At Tuesday’s council meeting we sworn in our newest Patrol Officer. Vincent Speakman comes to us having previously worked for the Runnemede PD. We are very excited to have him join our ranks. We thank Mayor and Council for their support.

Barrington Police Department Junior Police Academy - Year 3!

We are excited to announce our 2026 Junior Police Academy!

This free, hands-on program gives students ages 11–14 an inside look at law enforcement while building character, teamwork, leadership, and confidence.

📅 Dates: August 17–21, 2026
⏰ Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Location: Woodland School
💲 Cost: Free

Participants will take part in team-building activities, police and public safety demonstrations, K-9 demonstrations, physical fitness activities, patrol vehicle and equipment displays, criminal investigation activities, traffic and bicycle safety, military-style drill, and a graduation ceremony.

Tonight, we celebrated our 4th Annual Barrington Pride Month Kick-Off Event, and the turnout was absolutely amazing. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and help make this event such a success. Special shout out to Councilwoman Alisha VanBernum for all of her hard work planning the event.

A special thank you to our sponsors who made this event possible, the vendors who brought great products and resources, and our talented performers and karaoke singers who absolutely crushed it throughout the evening.
