In March of 2024, Barrington residents came together to support an exciting and transformative initiative—approving the purchase of the 13-acre Barrington Common property right in the heart of our town. This marks a major step forward in our collective effort to preserve Barrington’s rural charm and bring to life a vibrant and welcoming Town Center.
To guide this vision, we established the Barrington Center Development Committee, or BCDC. This group is made up of dedicated community members committed to working hand-in-hand with residents, local businesses, community organizations, and our town government. Their mission is to carry out this vision transparently and responsibly, always keeping residents informed and engaged every step of the way.
Since its formation, the BCDC has already made great strides, all with the help of volunteers and community support.
Some highlights include:
• Creation of a beautiful perimeter trail around the property
• A memorable bonfire event in our newly built firepit during the annual soiree
• Expanded parking, improved signage, and helpful wayfinding
• A festive and family-friendly Pumpkin Stroll
Most recently, we were thrilled to collaborate with the annual Truck Show, an event traditionally held on the Barrington Common. We're excited to share that the Truck Show will be making its return in August 2025!
Between January and March of this year, we also launched a community-wide survey, inviting input from residents, local businesses, organizations, and municipal leaders. The goal being to help shape a shared vision and clear priorities for the future of Barrington Common and our evolving Town Center.
