SHHHH…We hope the first week of school has been fantastic for all our Barrington area students, but one department in particular was OVERDUE (we’re here all week, folks) for a little rest and relaxation.

While the Youth Services team enjoys a well-deserved nap (yes, it’s that quiet here right now!), we’re going to whisper our encouragement and support to students, parents, educators, and school staff as you head into this new school year. Stay safe, keep learning and growing and trying new things! Thank you for an incredible Summer Reading 2026 - we’re still crunching numbers but it appears to be another record-busting year. See you soon: we’re here for you seven days a week, when you need a place to have fun, relax, socialize, study, and get homework help. Just don’t wake up the Librarians…

With baseball season still going strong in Chicago, it’s a great time to let you know that Scott’s new book, FOREVER CHAMPIONS: The Remarkable Story of Barrington Baseball and the Historic 1986 High School Team, is now available at BALibrary! You’ll find a copy for checkout in the adult non-fiction section (796.35762 STA) and for reference in our Local History Room.

ᴄᴏɴɢʀᴀᴛᴜʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴꜱ to Scott on achieving his retirement goal of writing and publishing this thrilling, game-by-game celebration of the coaches, players, and magic moments that got BHS to victory in the state baseball championship. We’re also delighted by this mention in the Author’s Notes and Acknowledgements: “Equally valuable was the Barrington Area Library, its timeline of the community’s history, and especially its digital collection of back issues of the Barrington Courier-Review.
