Our Story

The Brighter Futures Initiative, or BFI, was a three year grant that was awarded to the Barron County Department of Health & Human Services in 2015. The grant was funded through the Wisconsin Department of Health & Human Services. The BFI worked to reach youth, ages 12-17, who had been affected by trauma and provide appropriate care.

In 2018, Barron County Department of Health and Human Services was granted five more years of funding. This round of funding is targeted substance us prevention in youth, ages 12-17. This will be done through providing instruction for parents/caregivers to learn nurturing skills that support their children and teach them how to effectively discipline and guide their youth. We will also provide instruction to youth giving them a healthy future orientation and an increased appreciation of their parents/caregivers, and teach youth skills for dealing with stress and peer pressure.
