LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING EXERCISE
Barryton Elementary School
June 5, 2026

The Barryton Police Department, Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, and other local law enforcement agencies will be conducting a police training exercise at Barryton Elementary School on June 5, 2026.

THIS IS A TRAINING EXERCISE ONLY!

There is no emergency and no threat to the public. Community members may notice an increased law enforcement presence, emergency vehicles, and training-related activities at the school throughout the day.

Please do not call 911, the Barryton Police Department, the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, or the Michigan State Police regarding this training activity.

Important Information
• No public entry will be permitted into the school during the training.
• No parking will be allowed in the school parking lot on June 5, 2026.
• The training is designed to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of local law enforcement agencies.

We appreciate the community's cooperation and understanding as local law enforcement personnel participate in this important training opportunity.

🚓🍦 Cones with Heroes – Community Event 🍦🚒

Join the Barryton Police Department for our Cones with Heroes community event on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM!

This fun, family-friendly event gives local youth and community members the opportunity to meet their hometown heroes and explore emergency vehicles and equipment up close.

Each department will have emergency vehicles, equipment, and personnel on site for kids and families to look at, learn about, and interact with.

The Barryton Police Department recently responded to a report of attempted fraud. We want to remind everyone that scammers can be extremely convincing and are actively trying to steal your money and personal information.

If you receive any phone calls, emails, or text messages requesting bank details, Social Security numbers, passwords, or payments—especially in cash or gift cards—do not respond.

Hang up immediately and report the incident to your local sheriff’s office, state police, or law enforcement agency.

Stay alert and help protect yourself and others.

And on the other end of that line is you.

You are the calm in chaos.
You are the steady voice guiding shaking hands through CPR.
You are the one asking the right questions when panic makes it hard to think.
You are the unseen first responder, gathering critical information, dispatching help, and often staying on the line long after others might not be able to.

You hear things most people could never imagine—and yet, you return to that headset day after day, ready to serve again. You carry the weight of those calls quietly, with professionalism, strength, and compassion that often goes unrecognized.

While sirens and lights mark the arrival of help, it is your voice that starts the response. Your presence brings reassurance when everything feels out of control. Your ability to remain composed under pressure is nothing short of extraordinary.
