Our Executive Director, Rhonda, and Domestic Violence Program Manager, Tracie, have spent the last two days at the Partners for Change Conference hosted by the Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond's office.

"This annual conference brings current and innovative trainings to Oklahoma in support of a coordinated community response comprised of allied professions who are involved in violence against women work... It is an important part of a community continuum to enhance safety for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking (trafficking must involve an element of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking) and end violence against women in our state."

We cannot wait for them to get back and share everything they have learned.

P.S. Yes, they did in fact show up unintentionally twining every day!

September is Su***de Awareness Month. We are joining the National Children's Alliance in encouraging parents to "Be There Now", not just this month, but every month.

Small moments build big trust. Sometimes, being there for a child doesn’t mean having the perfect words or knowing exactly what to do. It can be as simple as:
- Cooking together
- Playing a game
- Taking a walk
- Talking about their day

When children know they have someone who will listen, support them, and take them seriously, they feel more connected and less alone.

Last night hosted a Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse Training for their Nursery and Worship and Wonder staff, and we are so grateful they did!

Did you know that we offer this training completely for free?

Our Recognizing and Reporting training educates child-serving professionals or volunteers on the basic issues of child abuse, how to recognize physical and behavioral signs of the varying forms of child abuse, and how to make a report.

If this sounds like something your organization could benefit from, give us a call to schedule a training today! 918.337.6177.

A huge thank you to Dr. Mary Stockett, M.D., for presenting her Recognizing Child Physical Abuse: from Bruises to Abusive Head Trauma to members of our MDT (MultiDisciplinary Team).

This training educated our team members on the indicators of physical abuse of children and its impact on child development.

We are so thankful to be able to offer this continuing education and CLEET-certified training to our community partners in efforts to strengthen our response and support to the children and families impacted by abuse in our communities.
