🚴‍♂️ Cruising Bartlett on an E-Bike? Let's Keep the Trails Safe for Everyone!

☀️With the warmer weather here, our 18-mile trail system is buzzing. E-bikes are a fantastic way to explore the village, but their extra power comes with a little extra responsibility.

Before you click your helmet into place and head out, keep these quick local safety reminders in mind to keep our paths a safe haven for all runners, walkers, and riders:

🛑 Stay off the sidewalks: Per Illinois state law and village ordinances, e-bikes are prohibited on sidewalks. Stick to our designated bike paths or the right side of the roadway.
🔔 Yield to pedestrians: The trail is a shared space! Always slow down and give an audible warning (like a friendly "On your left!") before passing walkers or joggers.
⏱️ Watch your speed: Ride at a pace that keeps everyone around you feeling comfortable. High-speed, reckless riding puts yourself and your neighbors at risk.
⚡ Know your vehicle: Bartlett trails only allow legal Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes under 750 watts. Motorized vehicles like quads, dirt bikes, and mopeds are strictly prohibited. (Reminder: You must be at least 16 to operate a Class 3 e-bike).
🔦 Gear up for night rides: If you're out past sunset, ensure you are visible with a solid front headlight, a rear red reflector/light, and reflective clothing or tape.

Let's look out for one another out there! For the full breakdown of local biking guidelines, visit the E-Bike Safety Guide on the Village website at bartlettil.gov.
