Here are a few moments from our Family Literacy Day celebration! 📚❤️ Residents and their families came together to enjoy reading, learning, creating and quality time with one another in a positive and uplifting environment. Congratulations to Timothy Fitzpatrick for being promoted to Deputy Division Director of the Classification and Inmate Transportation Division! His TDCJ career began in 2005 and includes roles from Correctional Officer to Senior Warden. 🌟

He's built a legacy receiving the Governors Administrator of the Year Award and serving on statewide professional boards. Now he's excited to support staff, modernize processes, and strengthen efforts to humanize corrections while protecting Texans. 📈🛡️

Today, the Bartlett Unit had the pleasure of welcoming Kristina Hartman, Windham Superintendent, Dr. Shelley McKinley, TJJD Superintendent, Craig Taylor, Assistant Superintendent of Workforce Development, along with Andrew Barbee and his team during their visit to the Bartlett Unit.

The Leashing Hope program pairs inmates at the Bartlett Innovation Unit with dogs from WCRAS for a 12 week training journey. The dogs live with their handlers, learning valuable skills that help them shine in adoption. At the same time, inmates gain lessons in patience, responsibility, and persistence.

It’s a mutually beneficial program we’re incredibly proud to be part of.

To keep this program thriving, certain supplies are essential. If you can help with anything listed, it would ensure another class of dogs gets one step closer to their new homes!

We’ve proudly graduated four classes so far and are currently working with our fifth cohort. Let’s keep this life changing program growing!

✨Bartlett employee Spotlight ✨

Senior Officer Kelly Davis began her career with TDCJ in 1984. In 1986, she transferred to the Christina Melton Crain Unit in Gatesville, Texas. In 1995, she assisted with the opening of the Allred Unit in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she worked in Segregation. In 2001, she transferred to the Alfred Hughes Unit in Gatesville, Texas, where she continued serving in Segregation.

In 2010, Senior Officer Davis was promoted to the rank of Sergeant at the Linda Woodman Unit, and in 2015, she was promoted to Lieutenant while continuing her service at the Woodman Unit.

After retiring in 2019, her dedication to the profession led her to return to TDCJ in 2020 at the Woodman Unit. In 2021, she transferred to the Bartlett Innovation Unit, where she currently serves as a Senior Correctional Officer and mentor to many staff members across the unit.

Throughout her career, Senior Officer Davis has displayed exceptional professionalism, leadership, and commitment to the mission of TDCJ. Her knowledge, guidance, and years of experience continue to make a lasting impact on both staff and the unit as a whole.

A few moments captured from our recent Thrive Graduation ceremony 🎓

Congratulations to all of the participants who successfully completed the program and took another step forward in their journey. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to growth do not go unnoticed.

Happy Mother’s Day from the Bartlett Unit 💐

Today, Assistant Warden Gonzalez and HR Supervisor Mrs. Norwood helped celebrate the amazing mothers across our unit by passing out beautifully customized floral arrangements as a small token of appreciation.

We are grateful for all of the mothers and mother figures whose strength, dedication, and compassion make a difference both in the workplace and at home each and every day. Thank you for all that you do, and we wish you all a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Last day of Correctional Officer Appreciation Week at the Bartlett Unit looked like this! More raffle prizes, hot dogs, root beer floats, and work bags as we wrapped up an amazing week dedicated to our staff.
