A group of inspiring girls from the Albany After School Program participated in the Girls on the Run 5K in Essex on May 30th! We are incredibly proud of these young runners!

Also special shout-out goes to our amazing coaches, Rachel Deonigi and Faith Urie, for their leadership throughout the season. Thank you for supporting these girls every step of the way!

Girls on the Run is a program designed to inspire and empower girls by building confidence, strengthening social and emotional skills, and encouraging healthy lifestyles through movement and teamwork. The season culminates with a celebratory 5K event that gives participants the opportunity to set a goal, work hard, and experience the pride of crossing the finish line.

As we wrap up another school year, our Health Office team came together to reflect, collaborate, and strengthen district-wide consistency in our procedures and practices. Time spent sharing ideas, reviewing processes, and planning for the future helps ensure we continue providing the highest level of support to our students, staff, and families. Thank you to this amazing team for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment throughout the year!

Dear OCSU Families and Staff,

We are aware of reports of “swatting” calls being made to schools across Vermont. A swatting call is a false report of a serious emergency intended to trigger a law enforcement response.

At this time, OCSU has not received any such calls, and there is no known threat to any of our schools.

I am sharing this information so that you are aware of the situation and know that we remain in communication with law enforcement and are monitoring the calls that are happening around the State.

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. All OCSU schools follow consistent safety procedures and emergency response protocols, and we are prepared to respond should any situation arise. At this time, all schools remain safe and operating as normal.

Thank you, all.
Jackie Ramsay-Tolman
Your OCSU Superintendent

Federal funding is based on participation, so every meal served helps strengthen and sustain the program for the families who count on it most. The more kids and families who participate, the more welcoming and “normal” the program becomes, helping remove the stigma that can sometimes keep people away. Summer meals are for everyone 18 and under, and every person in line helps make that message louder and clearer. Please help spread the word and help us build a stronger, more connected community this summer!

At last week’s Board Carousel Meeting, Superintendent Jackie shared an update on the significant progress made this year, aligned with the OCSU Strategic Plan. The presentation highlighted the ongoing work across our system to bring the plan to life in meaningful, measurable ways.

We are sharing the presentation here to keep our community informed and engaged in this important work as we continue moving forward together.

Dear OCSU, The OCSU One Board Committee is beginning an exploratory review of our school board structure.
Our current system has been built on a structure designed to balance collaboration across communities with local decision-making. As part of our ongoing responsibility to ensure that our structure continues to serve students, families, and taxpayers effectively, the Board has begun an exploratory review of how our current system operates.
The OCSU One Board Study Committee would like your input. Please scan this QR code to complete a survey that will help inform our next steps. Thank you!
