On April 25, 2000 our program was forever changed. Our colleagues were returning to base in their helicopter, a BK-117 N428MB, from St. Petersburg to Tampa. At 1216 hrs a collision occurred with a radio tower. Our crew made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Their sacrifice along with others who have died in the HEMS industry, have led to the safety practice we follow today. Their deaths were not in vain. They died in service to their patients, their team mates, and we who carry on their memories and legacy. This memorial marks the spot where they gave everything. The helipad at St. Joseph's Hospital is also dedicated to their honor. 21
years have passed, and we will never forget you. Rest in honored glory Pilot Mark Wallace, Flight Nurse Alicia Betita-Collins, and Flight Paramedic Erik Hangartner đŸ’™
