Polk County 4-H

Polk County 4-H UF IFAS Polk County 4-H 4-H Youth Development is an extension of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS).

Its focus is to promote the development of life skills in the youth within the community. Polk County 4-H includes several local clubs with youth involved in a variety of projects such as forest ecology, horse, dog, horticulture, public speaking, marine science, photography, archery, and so much more! Polk County 4-H also has school enrichment programs like Agri-fest and Florida 4-H Public Speakin

Game Day Grill Edition – Florida 4-H Tailgating

Ready to step into the world of tailgating?

Polk County 4-H is hosting the Game Day Grill Edition, a three-day experience where youth will learn grilling fundamentals, explore the food system, and prepare to compete in the Florida 4-H Tailgating Contest.

Participants will begin with a hands-on workshop focused on food safety, grill safety, meat cuts, flavor development, and nutrition. The experience continues with a farm-to-table agricultural field trip, and wraps up with Contest Day, where youth compete in the county qualifier for the Florida 4-H Tailgating Contest.

If you enjoy cooking, learning where your food comes from, and a little friendly competition, this program is for you.

Please consider volunteering for this year’s Agri-Fest! This event helps students learn all about agriculture, how food is grown, raised, and ultimately makes its way from Florida farms to their tables. Your support helps create hands‑on, memorable learning experiences for the students in our community.

We’re seeking volunteers for several stations, and we especially need a few enthusiastic helpers for the Citrus Station, where students not only get to hand‑juice an orange, but also learn about Florida’s citrus industry and its importance! 🍊

Volunteers are needed from 9:00 a.m.–12:15 p.m.
