In the span of a few brief hours, Hurricane Isaias tore through the Florida Panhandle, leaving behind a scarred landscape of tangled timber and downed power lines. Now, the quiet aftermath is filled with the roar of chainsaws as District One crews and neighboring teams work around the clock to reclaim the battered highways. It is backbreaking, deliberate work—taking more than a week to mend what nature destroyed in an afternoon. With every massive branch cleared, these relentless crews bring the community one step closer to recovery. Stay safe out there, District One, and thank you for clearing the way home. ⛈💪🏼

🚦 Reminder for Polk County Drivers! 🚦

If you're driving through intersections with bagged or covered traffic signals, remember they're not active yet and should not be treated as four-way stops. Until the new traffic signals are activated and placed into service, motorists must continue to obey the existing traffic control signs and devices at each intersection. 🚗

Key intersections under construction:

S.R. 17 at C.R. 546 in Lake Hamilton
S.R. 33 at Mount Olive Road in Polk City
S.R. 544 at Old Lucerne Park Road in Winter Haven
U.S. 98 at C.R. 54 near Pasco County Line
I-4 WB ramps at County Line Road
U.S. 27 at Casa Del Sol in Haines City
U.S. 17 at S.R. 540 in Bartow and Winter Haven

Motorists are advised that starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at approximately 9 a.m., the new signal located at northbound U.S. 41 and Retta Esplanade is to enter its flashing yellow (burn-in) phase.

The flashing yellow phase serves as a warning to motorists that a new signal is in place and will soon become fully operational. An additional update will be provided when the new signal is scheduled to become fully operational.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution during this transition period.

Motorists are advised that beginning tonight, October 13, 2026, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., the State Road 29 southbound to I-75 northbound on-ramp will be closed. Crews will be conducting paving operations on the ramp. Law Enforcement will be on site to aid in traffic control.

Motorists traveling on State Road 29 southbound who want to access I-75 northbound must use the posted detour:

Motorists will continue on State Road 29 and then access I-75 southbound (towards Broward County). They will travel on southbound I-75 until they reach the Collier County Rest Area located at Mile Marker 63. From there, they can access I-75 northbound.
