🩸 Memorial Blood Drive Honoring Thomas & John Gorman 🩸

Join us on September 10 & 11, 2026, from 8:00 AM–4:00 PM at the Steeplechase Cancer Center in Somerville as we honor the lives and service of brothers Thomas and John Gorman.

Port Authority Police Officer Thomas Gorman donated blood on September 10, 2001—just one day before losing his life on September 11. His brother, John, later passed away from a 9/11-related illness.

Help us honor their legacy by giving the gift of life. ❤️🇺🇸

🐾 National Night Out Spotlight: Meet K9 Ricky! 🐾

When you join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, at 6:00 PM, be sure to stop by and meet one of Somerset County Sheriff’s Office’s four-legged partners—K9 Ricky!

K9 Ricky is a Belgian Malinois who joined the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit as an Explosives Detection K-9. Named in honor of fallen K9 Rik of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Ricky carries on a legacy of courage and service.

Handled by Sheriff’s Officer Sean Dowling, Ricky completed an intensive 13-week Explosives Detection Handler/Trainer Course and graduated from the Explosive Detection K9 Academy at the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

K9 Ricky is trained to detect 27 explosive odors, as well as gunshot residue, and responds to emergency calls and planned security sweeps throughout the county to help keep our communities safe.

Come say hello, learn about the incredible work of explosives detection K-9 teams, and see why these highly trained partners are such an important part of law enforcement.
