It was an honor to speak at the 2026 Texas Young Republicans Convention!

Texas’ future is in good hands when young conservatives are willing to step up, get involved, and fight for the principles that make our state the greatest in the nation.

The fight doesn’t stop—and neither do we!

Texas is killing the money pipeline for Flock’s spy cameras.

Gov. Greg Abbott just ordered state agencies to stop funding these systems as communities across the state reject the surveillance state.

These aren’t “just license plate readers.” They capture make, model, color, bumper stickers, dents — and feed searchable databases that let anyone with access track vehicles across entire networks. No warrant needed for the dragnet.

The pushback is working:

✅ Pflugerville City Council voted unanimously to end their contract and kill all 28 readers.

✅ Hood County ordered its 3 cameras disconnected and covered until removal.

➡️ Bastrop needs to be next.

We have 30 of these cameras watching Bastrop roads.

Mass surveillance of everyday people is not public safety. It’s a permanent record of where free Texans go, who they visit, and how they live — without probable cause.

Show up. Speak up. Demand they come down.

🚨 SMITHVILLE VICTORY — BUT WE’RE NOT DONE YET! 🚨

Smithville families just scored a MAJOR victory: after we all spoke out, the City Council slashed the bloated budget and cut the proposed tax hike in HALF. 👊🏻

But make no mistake — Smithville taxpayers are still being asked to pay more.

On September 9th at 5 PM, the Council will vote on the final property tax rate. We need to demand the No-New-Revenue rate to guarantee taxpayers don’t pay more than last year.

Another 7¢ increase may not sound like much, but on the current outrageous $0.626 rate, that’s another 11.2% tax hike — 22% higher than the City of Austin!

Smithville families deserve better.

📍 Join us at Smithville City Hall on September 9th at 5 PM.

Tell the Council loud and clear:

NO NEW REVENUE. NO HIGHER TAXES.

Can’t attend? Make your voice heard today.

Smithville taxpayers should not have to keep reaching deeper into their pockets to fund bigger government.

Stay engaged. Speak up. Show up. And together, let’s finish this fight for fiscal responsibility. 💪🏼

Proud to join Bastrop ISD for the ribbon cutting on the new P-TECH Pharmacy Lab at Bastrop High School!

This new on-campus lab gives students greater access to the hands-on training that can take them from the classroom directly into real pharmacy careers. We especially enjoyed hearing from the students themselves as they walked us through the program and showed us what they’re learning.

When we talk about building the future Texas workforce, this is exactly what it looks like—giving students real skills, real experience, and a direct pathway to good careers right here in their community.

Thank you to Bastrop ISD, Austin Community College, the Bastrop Regional Chamber of Commerce, and all of the local partners who helped make this incredible opportunity possible. The future is bright in HD 17!

Whether a “retreat” in Fredericksburg to discuss an $830,000 city budget shortfall was a prudent investment of taxpayer dollars is between the Bastrop City Council and their constituents.

The decision to hold a two-day city council meeting subject to the Open Meetings Act more than 100 miles away from Bastrop is a different matter.

That’s what Chairman Cody Vasut will be examining on August 26th in the House Governmental Oversight hearing.

Affordability is the number one struggle Texas families face everyday. But the Smithville City Council doesn’t seem to care.

Property taxes have soared 97% in ten years. Now the Council wants another 18.6% increase - the most they can take without voter approval!

Only Brandon Dunham voted against it.

This is exactly why I’m going to pass property tax reform that caps local government spending, limits appraisal increases, and gives voters a direct say over every single property tax increase.

If local politicians refuse to listen, we will make them listen. We will rein them in and stop these runaway tax hikes once and for all.

Attend the next Budget Meeting at 5pm on Thursday, and contact the Mayor and these tax-raising council members to let them know how another tax hike would impact your family:

🚨PROPERTY TAX ALERT 🚨

Runaway local spending + higher tax rates = MORE MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET!

Your local government is deciding your tax rate RIGHT NOW. Most people don’t show up and fight back. That’s how hikes happen.

📅 Check your upcoming tax rate hearing.

🗣 Show up. Speak out. Slash spending.

❌ STOP TAX HIKES.

Thank you to the Caldwell County Republican Party‘s Ten Commandments Committee for preparing and donating nearly 900 posters for our Caldwell County public school classrooms.

Your donation, along with the generosity of other local donors, has helped ensure classrooms are ready to share an important part of the history and traditions that form a foundation for the laws of our state and nation.

Prayers for a school year filled with growth, joy, and countless opportunities to make a lasting difference for students and teachers across District 17.
