The Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office is honored and grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the 2025–2026 Keep Louisiana Beautiful Trash Receptacle Grant Program made possible through funding from the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Through this grant, five new trash receptacles have now been installed throughout Morehouse Parish — including two at the Sheriff’s Office, one at the Morehouse Parish Jail, and two at the north and south entrances of our beautiful historic courthouse.

These receptacles are already helping keep some of our most visible public spaces cleaner while encouraging community pride and litter prevention throughout our parish.

A sincere thank you to Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the State of Louisiana, and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor for supporting communities like ours and investing in a cleaner, more beautiful Louisiana. We are proud to do our part to help keep Morehouse Parish looking its very best for our citizens and visitors alike.

Together, small improvements can make a big difference. 💙

SHERIFF TUBBS AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP TO COLLEGE-BOUND TEEN

Sheriff Mike Tubbs announced that Cori Guice of Morehouse Parish has been named the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program for the 2025/2026 school year. She resides in Bastrop and has plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe and pursue a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. She is the daughter of Gary and Amanda Guice.

The Sheriffs’ Scholarship is made possible by the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program (LSHMP). Louisiana Sheriffs provide scholarships to graduating high school students from each parish where the Sheriff is an affiliate of the program.

Qualities such as academic achievement, leadership and character are considered in making selections of the Sheriffs’ scholarship recipients. The only limitations are that the applicants be permanent residents of Louisiana, scholarships be utilized in higher education within the state and students be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate students. Scholarships will be awarded in sixty-four parishes throughout the state.

Sheriff Tubbs stated “Academic awards by the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program to Louisiana students demonstrate what the LSHMP is all about. This is one of our finest accomplishments. It invests in Louisiana’s future and gives something back to our community. This would not be possible without the kind and generous support of Morehouse Parish’s Honorary Members”
