The MPSO is currently working a burglary on Ten Rd. that occurred during the early hours of August 10th,2026 and is looking for the public’s assistance. The suspect looks to be a white male between the ages of 40-55, and was driving a Ford F150, two tone in color, possibly 2010-2014 model. The individual stole several tools and accessories. The Deputies of the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on the afternoon of August 14th, 2026 on a house on N. Odom St. While searching the house, investigators located and seized multiple types of controlled substances, as well as two fi****ms. Bobby D. Stewart, B/M 09/08/1968, was arrested and charged with the following charges:
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Synthetic Ma*****na (MOJO)
- Poss. With Intent to Distribute Ma*****na
- Poss. With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Poss. With Intent to Distribute MDMA/Ecstasy
- Poss. Of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (2 Counts)
- Poss. Of a Firearm while in possession/control of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 Counts)

Please join us in congratulating Reserve Deputy Bobby Haynes on 20 years of service to the citizens of Morehouse Parish. Deputy Haynes has served many facets of the MPSO including corrections and patrol. He has donated countless hours to school functions and many other community events. He has escorted many funerals and transported non emergency medical to hospital and appointments. He is a valued member of MPSO and we look forward to many years ahead.

Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office K9 Huna has received donation of body armor

Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office, LA - K9 Huna has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Huna’s vest was sponsored by Paula Jacobi Richard of St. Augustine, FL and embroidered with the sentiment “In honor of CSPD K9 Roam”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,513 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. On June 20th, 2026, MPSO deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Forrest St and Pleasant Dr. Deputies canvased the area and obtained evidence that led them to Wallace Dr where several shell casings were located. The investigation led to a residence where Demorion Atkins, B/M 3/6/06, was located and deputies recovered an AR-15 style rifle. Atkins was found to have shot the rifle at least 12 times. Atkins was charged with Illegal use of weapons and booked into the MPJ.

On June 26th, 2026 MPSO Investigators located Walter Christian, B/M 2/5/1962, at a local scrap yard in possession of stolen air conditioning parts from Advanced Heat and Air. Advanced had been burglarized twice and evidence collected at the scene lead to this arrest. Mr. Christian was booked into the MPJ. The subject was charged with the following:

1. Burglary (2 counts)
2. Conspiracy to commit burglary (2 counts)

MPSO Investigators have made an arrest on a 17-year-old black male after evidence showed that he opened fire on 3 juveniles hitting one in the leg in the area of Forrest Ave. and Robert St. on June 18th, 2026. The seventeen-year-old had been charged with 3 counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and booked in the Morehouse Parish Jail.
