Happy Tuesday, Bastrop!

Many of you in our community already know Rita — our feisty, young-at-heart 90-something neighbor who’s always smiling around town.

Earlier today, she stopped by with some homemade goodies for patrol and to say hello to everyone.

We sure do appreciate you, Rita! 💙

UPDATE: Recently, the body of an adult male was located in the area where Alvin was last seen. Today, our department received positive confirmation that the deceased has been identified as Alvin.

His family has been previously notified.

We ask that you keep Alvin’s family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time.

The City of Bastrop Police Department received a report of a missing person identified as Alvin Santoy, a 55-year-old Hispanic male. He is described as 5’7” and weighing approximately 140 pounds.

Alvin has black and white hair, brown eyes, a goatee, and a mustache. He has a tribal-style band tattoo that wraps around his right bicep and may also have a ma*****na plant tattooed on one of his calves (unknown whether it is the left or right calf). Both of Alvin’s earlobes are pierced.

Alvin was last seen and heard from on May 2, 2026, in the area of the Piney Ridge Subdivision. He was reported missing on May 12, 2026, shortly after 8:00 PM. Alvin left his wallet, vehicle, and cellphone at his residence.

Heads Up!

The City of Bastrop Police Department will be participating in the Click it or Ticket initiative.

The purpose of this mobilization is to conduct high-visibility saturation patrols within the designated enforcement zones with daytime and nighttime traffic enforcement. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that the Click It or Ticket initiative in Texas has saved more than 8,600 lives, prevented 157,000 serious injuries, and resulted in more than $35 billion in economic savings since its launch in 2002.

This will start May 18th and continue throughout the month.

We are also incredibly thankful for the support shown by
Ally Medical ER Bastrop, Sonic Drive-In, the hardworking dispatchers with Bastrop County 9-1-1 Emergency Communications, Bastrop County Intercessors (Linda Lemos), and so many others in our community.

National Police Week is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and to remember and support the families they left behind.
We are thankful to serve a community that stands beside its first responders and never forgets the meaning of this week.
