Thanks in part to a state funded grant - Over the next few weeks, our department will be increasing Impaired Driving enforcement in specific zones (SH 71, SH 95, FM 304 and Chestnut St. and others) throughout the City of Bastrop. Since the beginning of the year, we have already encountered over 45 DWI's underscoring the ongoing threat impaired drivers pose to public safety.
These operations are part of our continued commitment to reducing crashes, injuries, and fatalities caused by impaired driving. We urge all motorists to take this responsibility seriously.

Meet our IT guru, Marco (a fantastic guy... and not just because he fixes everything)!

Yesterday, Marco joined several other volunteers and stepped up to participate in our Active Shooter Training exercise. We greatly appreciate his willingness to help make this important training as realistic and effective as possible.

A big thank you to Marco and all of our volunteers for their time and support. Hopefully you're not too sore today, Marco—we promise the bruises build character! 😄

FINAL UPDATE: Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of SH 95 for a suspicious circumstances call. One deceased 57 YO male was located inside a vehicle. No further information is being released on the deceased as Next of Kin notification is pending. There is no threat to the public. This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.

UPDATE: As we continue to work on this incident - there is NO THREAT to members of the public.

On June 11th, 2026 at approximately 1445 hours officers were dispatched to a suspicious circumstance in the 1700 block of SH 71. Currently there is a large police presence in the area. More details will be provided as they develop.
