🚑 FROM RAW MATERIALS TO THE ROAD: BUILDING OUR AMBULANCES

Have you ever wondered how an ambulance is built?

Bastrop County EMS will operate 15 new Frazer ambulances, mounted on Ford F-450 chassis.

Frazer’s story began more than 50 years ago, manufacturing geophysical vehicles for the oilfield industry. Designed to operate for days at a time in remote locations and the demanding West Texas heat, these vehicles were known for their superior electrical and climate-control systems.

When the oilfield industry declined in the 1980s, Frazer transitioned into ambulance manufacturing. Today, the company builds standard and specialty emergency vehicles for customers around the world.

As we get closer to our October 1 launch, we thought you might enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how our new ambulances come together.

FIRST DAY: ONBOARDING IS UNDERWAY!

Monday marked a major milestone for Bastrop County ESD #3 as we welcomed 71 new employees for their first day of onboarding!

Our team includes 29 In-Charge Paramedics, 30 EMT and Paramedic Attendants, and 12 Communications Officers who will play a critical role in providing EMS service to Bastrop County beginning October 1.

Over the next five weeks, our new team members will be hard at work:

🔹 Training on new ambulances, medical equipment, and technology
🔹 Completing training and certification on agency protocols
🔹 Stocking ambulances and medical kits
🔹 Preparing stations for Day 1
🔹 Building the teamwork and processes needed to serve our community

Each ambulance will be staffed with one In-Charge Paramedic and one Attendant, while our Communications Officers will answer 911 calls for EMS assistance and dynamically manage ambulance deployment across the county to help ensure efficient response times.

There is a lot of work ahead, but seeing our people together for the first time makes October 1 feel closer than ever.

The team is here. The training has begun. And Day 1 is almost here! 🚑💙

Out in the Community 🤠

The past few weeks have been busy for our crews as we've had the privilege of providing EMS coverage for both Western Days and the Bastrop Rodeo!

Whether supporting community celebrations, sporting events, or other special gatherings, our paramedics and EMTs are committed to being there when our community needs us most. It's an honor to help ensure these hometown traditions are prepared for any medical emergency, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy everything Bastrop County has to offer with the confidence that emergency medical care is close at hand.

Thank you to the event organizers, volunteers, and our public safety partners who helped make these events successful. We appreciate the opportunity to serve our community—both on and off the ambulance.

We look forward to seeing you at the next community event!

Every day brings us one step closer to October 1, when Bastrop County EMS will begin serving our community.
