Is this post a week late? Yes. Is our appreciation for our Telecommunicators late? Never. ❌

Last week (April 12–18) was National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and while the official celebration has passed, our gratitude for our dispatchers hasn't faded one bit. Our Firefighters got to deliver some treats to the Bastrop County Dispatchers office as a small token of our appreciation for everything they do!

To our dispatchers: Thank you for being the lifeline our community counts on. You are the first "first responders," the steady hands behind the headset, and the heartbeat of public safety. We’re celebrating you today—and every day! ✨

We don't need a designated week to know that our dispatchers are absolute rockstars. Join us in giving them a (slightly delayed) round of applause! 👏🎧🔥

🚨 Traffic Alert – Bastrop 🚨

UPDATE: Roadway is back open.

Units from Bastrop Fire Department are currently on scene of a crash at Hwy 21 and Loop 150. Traffic in the area is moving slowly—please use caution and expect delays if traveling through.

If possible, consider an alternate route and give first responders plenty of space to work safely.

Yesterday we teamed up with our neighbors at Bastrop County Emergency Services District No. 2 Station 2 to put in some solid work training on RIT/MAYDAY operations and building the coordination it takes to work seamlessly. A strong relationship between us means a stronger response for the communities we both serve. Train together. Work together. Win together.

Team effort on this one earlier this week!
A quick response by Bastrop Police Department officers grabbing extinguishers and slowing the fire down until our firefighters could get there to finish up the job. Their efforts kept the flames from fully engulfing the vehicle and spreading to many other vehicles parked nearby. We appreciate the quick action and teamwork to protect the city!
