June is National Safety Month. 🦺

Annually, over 8 million emergency room visits result from slips, trips, and falls.

Slips can happen because of the lack of friction between your foot and whatever surface you are walking on and often result from spills, oily surfaces, or hazardous weather conditions such as rain, snow, or ice.

Trips can happen when your foot hits or gets caught on something and causes you to lose your balance and can result from ground obstructions (boxes, furniture, power cords, etc), walking/moving in the dark, or uneven walking surfaces.

Falls result from your center of gravity being thrown off from and your balance being reduced. A fall often results from either a slip or a trip.

Slips, trips, and falls can happen anywhere at any time. Even a small fall can cause serious harm, but many injuries can be prevented by staying aware and keeping space safe.

Prevention Tips:
🫟 Clean and report spills immediately
⚠️ Be extra cautious on smooth surfaces
💡 Walk and work in well lit areas, especially at night
✨ Keep your work space clean and tidy
🚫 Don’t jump off of loading docks or landings, always use the stairs when possible
👟 Wear appropriate, non-slip shoes

Physical activity is one of the most important things men can do to support long-term health. Regular exercise helps improve heart health, boost mood, strengthen bones and muscles, reduce stress, and lower the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. 💪

Adults should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week according to CDC physical activity guidelines. This can include walking, lifting weights, biking, playing sports, swimming, or any movement that gets your heart rate up. You don't have to start with an intense routine. Start small, stay consistent, and choose activities that fit your lifestyle. 🏋️‍♂️

If you are new to exercise, have a health condition, or are unsure where to start, consider talking with a healthcare provider or certified fitness professional to find activities that are safe and realistic for you. 🧑‍⚕️

This Men's Health Month, make movement a priority. Your future health depends on the habits you build today. 🏃‍➡️
