The work of advocating for children and families involved in the child welfare system is powerful and deeply personal. Whether you are a volunteer, staff member, community partner, advocate, or in the child welfare system yourself, taking time for rest is necessary.

Caring for yourself helps recharge your self-strength and ability to overcome hardships.

To learn about the 10 most important strengths identified through research that activate resilience in the people you serve and even in yourself, please take the time to watch this webinar.

September is recognized as Kinship Care Awareness Month, during which caregivers are shown extra appreciation for their role in supporting children.

Kinship care offers youth in the child welfare system the chance to live with people they already know and trust (such as relatives or close family friends). This type of placement helps children maintain important connections to their family, heritage, and community, giving added stability and comfort in their lives.
