Illinois House Democrats continue to fight for affordable futures for all, starting with responsible budgets. Our latest socially responsible annual budget, along with a growing "rainy day" fund, paying down debt obligations, and steady revenues generated from local economies has earned Illinois its 11th credit rating upgrade since 2021. Now with an A1 rating, our state's credit rating is at its highest point in nearly 15 years.

I had a great time visiting the Illinois State Fair this week! The $118 million of capital invested into the fairgrounds through the Illinois Department of Agriculture since 2019 shows. The attractions for tourists, and opportunities for businesses large and small make it a must visit this final weekend, and save the dates for 2027!

Back-to-school shopping can add up fast, but Illinois families and educators can save a little extra this year!

Now through August 16, Illinois’ Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday means a reduced state sales tax on qualifying clothing and school supplies priced under $125.

I was proud to vote for this tax relief to help families and teachers save on backpacks, clothes, shoes, school supplies, and other essentials as students head back to the classroom.

Whether swimmers are diving into Lake Michigan, farmers are cultivating their crops, or any Illinoisan is using a drinking fountain, water that’s free of toxins and contaminants is essential for life in our state.

I've passed a range of laws to advance this cause, including the Safe Drinking Water Act, which enhances enforcement tools for maintaining water purity standards, because no one should ever face the frustrations, obstacles, or even dangers of contaminated water.

As we approach the end of summer, we encourage you to take advantage of Illinois’ upcoming sales tax holiday to ensure your kids are set up for success during the upcoming school year!

From August 7 through August 16, the state sales tax will be reduced on school and office supplies and select pieces of clothing.

The Trump administration has cut food assistance to over 200,000 Illinois households since May 1. In Illinois, we're doing something about it.

Starting Aug. 1, Illinoisans who lost SNAP benefits will receive a notice determining their eligibility for an automatic, one-time $400 credit, which will be deposited onto eligible residents' Illinois Link cards. Visit http://dhs.illinois.gov/fresh for more information.
