AIR SHOW PARKING UPDATE:

Due to this week’s heavy rain, the Green Lot and Green Entrance have been relocated for the Wings Over Batavia Air Show at the Genesee County Airport.

Attendees should arrive early and follow event volunteer directions when approaching the airport.

TORNADO WARNING — GENESEE COUNTY

UPDATE — TORNADO WARNING
The National Weather Service has issued a new Tornado Warning for southeastern Genesee County until 8:15 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Batavia and moving east at 40 mph. This warning includes Batavia, Le Roy and Pavilion, along with portions of Wyoming, Livingston and Monroe counties.
Residents in the path of the storm should seek shelter now in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor and stay away from windows.

Continue to monitor local weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for central Genesee County until 7:30 p.m.

A radar-confirmed tornado was reported near Oakfield, moving southeast. Residents in the path of the storm should seek shelter now, preferably in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor, and stay away from windows.

Severe storms may bring damaging winds up to 70 mph, heavy rainfall and localized flooding, large hail, frequent lightning, and the possibility of a tornado or two.

Residents should monitor weather conditions and be prepared to take shelter if a warning is issued.

PSA: Safety Measures for the 2026 Wings Over Batavia Air Show

Wings Over Batavia returns to the Genesee County Airport September 5–6, with performances running from 5–9 p.m. Practice flights are scheduled for Friday, September 4.

Residents should expect increased aircraft activity throughout the weekend, including aerial maneuvers, planned explosions, pyrotechnics, and fireworks. These are part of the show and should not cause alarm.

Emergency service providers will be stationed on-site, and enhanced safety measures will be in place.

Traffic closures will include:

• State Street Road from West Saile Drive north to Batavia-Elba Townline Road
• West Saile Drive from the Milton CAT building to the storage barns east of the airport

Motorists and pedestrians should follow all posted signs and directions from traffic personnel.
