Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014 has arrived in WNY!
On Thursday June 11th at 9:00am it is scheduled to depart Buffalo, and head east through the southwestern portion of Genesee County, on its way down to Letchworth State Park - arriving approx 12:20pm.
If you are planning on viewing the train: Stay back at least 25 feet from the tracks at all times; do not trespass on rail tracks, trestles, or yards; do not pace the train - be safe and considerate; always be aware of your environment and assume a train is approaching at any time - as all railways are working railways.
The link below provides an interactive map showing the route that the train will take during its entire journey. The route is highlighted in yellow.
There are no time estimates as to when the train will be passing through each town, let alone at each railroad crossing. These are details that even Union Pacific has not announced, because it varies greatly due to whatever speed the train is traveling, and whether they need to slow or stop along the way.
However, the link below also offers a tracker that shows the location of the train on the map, provided you refresh the page every so often. This may be the best way to tell how close it is to you.
