Dear Batesville Community,

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your generous donations towards the K9 fundraiser for the Batesville Police Department. This remarkable effort was spearheaded by Janet Smart, Farmers Insurance Agent, with invaluable assistance from Laura Guerin. Your contributions, coupled with the support from our matching community donor, have enabled us to reach our goal of purchasing a drug K9 Officer. This achievement underscores the exceptional, community-minded spirit that thrives in Batesville. We encourage you to consider Janet Smart and Laura Guerin for all your insurance needs, as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and hard work in making our community safer. Your support has truly made a difference, and we are immensely thankful for your involvement in this vital initiative.

K9 Officer Mixxy is JUMPING for JOY that Janet Smart, Farmers Insurance Agent is raising money to get another K9 Officer! Mixxy says it is lonely to be the only one.

K9 Officer Mixxy invites you to stop and speak to him and Officer Malloy about being a K9 Officer Handler. Have you ever wondered about a dog's nose? Working the streets, sniffing, always sniffing, is tough work! Mixxy says, "My nose has up to 300 million olfactory receptors, compared to about six million in humans. And the part of a dog's brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is about 40 times greater than ours. Dogs also have something called neophilia, which means they are attracted to new and interesting odors. Dogs possess a sense of smell many times more sensitive than even the most advanced man-made instrument. Powerful enough to detect substances at concentrations of one part per trillion—a single drop of liquid in 20 Olympic-size swimming pools. With training, dogs can sniff out bombs and drugs, pursue suspects, and find dead bodies. Aren't you impressed?"

PLEASE help Mixxy get another K9 Officer to help protect us all
