Shop Main Street Batesville this holiday weekend! Poke Bayou Outfitters will get you ready for all your fall outdoor adventures.

THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND, WE’RE THANKFUL FOR YOU.

Labor Day celebrates the people whose hard work builds our communities — and we want to take a minute to thank the people who make what we do possible.

Our customers.

Every time you shop local, sign up for a class, rent a kayak, bring us a bike, tell a friend about the store, or trust us to outfit your next adventure, you’re helping us build an outdoor community right here at home.

Because of you, we get to come to work and help people fish new water, paddle local streams, ride another mile, and find their next adventure. That’s a pretty great job to have, and we don’t take it for granted.

Thank you for supporting Poke Bayou Outfitters, supporting local, and continuing to adventure with us.

We hope your Labor Day weekend includes a little less labor and a whole lot more time outside.🌲🛶🎣

This year, brewers will set up side by side at Polk & Paddle Pocket Park in Downtown Batesville instead of inside a convention hall. Meet the makers, try beers from around the state, and enjoy local music and community.

Join Lyon College and members of the Batesville community on Friday, September 11 at 11 a.m. for a special service of remembrance and reflection as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and hold in our hearts those whose lives were forever changed that day. We will gather as a community to remember, reflect, and pray for peace.

This event is open to the public and is our way of marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. For more information, contact Reverend Margaret Alsup, Lyon College Chaplain and Director of Service, at 870-307-7474 or [email protected].

The Batesville Area Arts Council invites the community to welcome the fall season with a fun and festive Bejeweled Pumpkin Painting Workshop on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at BAAC Work/Shop on Main, located at 246 E. Main Street.

Attendees will create a beautiful pumpkin painting on canvas and then add their own touch of sparkle using rhinestones, sequins, and glitter paint. With the freedom to choose traditional autumn hues or bold, bright colors, each participant will create a one-of-a-kind piece of seasonal artwork.

This class is the perfect opportunity to relax, get creative, and celebrate the season. Everyone will leave with a unique pumpkin painting ready to brighten their home and add a touch of sparkle to their seasonal décor.

The cost is $30 per person, or $25 for BAAC members. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required to secure a spot.

The Old Independence Regional Museum will host its annual Fall Family Day on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year, we will explore the history of agriculture and homesteading in Arkansas through hands-on activities, historic crafts, demonstrations, and more. Fall Family Day is free and open to the public!

Bring the whole family for a day of fun and discovery. Farm Bureau will present its Dairy Classroom, featuring a simulated cow, and Addie Walsh of Happy Hippie Hives will teach kids about beekeeping. Visitors can try traditional crafts and games, including playing with corn cob darts and homemade toys. Faye Brinkley will share stories of Ozark folklore and traditional herbal remedies, and the Tri-County Antique Tractor Club will return with tractors on display in front of the museum.

A selection of local vendors will also offer homemade and handcrafted products. Vendor booths are $20–$25, and space is limited. Early registration is encouraged. Vendors interested in participating can contact the museum at [email protected] or 870-793-2121. We invite local makers and creators to join us and share their unique products with visitors from across the region!

The OIRM is also accepting entries for its Fall Family Day T-shirt competition. Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply love to create, we invite you to submit a design for a chance to have your artwork featured on this year’s Family Day T-shirt. For information about submitting a design, contact the museum at [email protected] or register online.

Fall Family Day is made possible through the generous support of our members, donors, sponsors, staff, and volunteers. Since 1998, the OIRM has provided quality programs, tours, genealogical resources, records, and archives that help bring our region's history to life.

Bring your family, bring your friends, and make some memories at Fall Family Day!

Community support makes programs like this possible. To become a member, make a donation, or learn about volunteer opportunities, contact the museum at 870-793-2121 or visit oirm.org.
