The police department has a staff of 19 employees, which includes 13 sworn officers and 6 Public Safety Dispatchers. The Batesville Police Department is made up of 13 sworn officers and 6 civilian employees, all dedicated to providing the highest quality of law enforcement to the people of our community. With a population estimated at just over 6000 residents, we have maintained a calm and peacefu

l community. We are located approximately 45 miles northwest of Cincinnati, Ohio along Interstate I-74. While we provide a safe environment for business growth and development with the latest of technology, we are proud that our community still retains its small town feel. We have always worked closely with our local residents, schools, businesses and other governmental agencies to solve problems and prevent crime.

PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE CITIZENS OF BATESVILLE!

We have had large amount of vehicle break ins over the past week. These individuals are taking articles of value from vehicles that have been left unlocked. The Batesville Police Department is working on numerous cases throughout the city.

If you happen to have any info regarding these break ins, please contact the Batesville Police Department non emergency line at 812-934-3131. You can also leave information online at the City of Batesville website. Select the Department drop down and select the Police Department. On the Police Department page will be a link for “Report a Crime”.

If you have security cameras, double check that they are activated and working. If you see the crime occurring, please dial 911 IMMEDIATELY!

Today we had defensive tactics training instructed by Sergeant Chris Smith and Patrolman Greg Christin. One thing for sure is that everyone gets cut in a knife fight! We appreciate the Batesville Community School Corporation for allowing us to use their facilities!
