Steuben County Emergency Services Steuben County Office of Emergency Services oversees Fire, EMS and Disaster Services for the County.

In the event of an emergency in the County, or a portion of the County, which exceeds the capacity of the local area to handle with a "normal" response. This "normal" response can be through the resources of the local municipality and the routine mutual aid response. When the situation begins to exceed the capacity of the local area response, The County Office of Emergency Services can assist and

coordinate resources from across the County. In the event that the emergency were to exceed the resources of the County, OES would request additional resources from the State and other agencies. One of the main functions of OES is to coordinate resources and gather information about multiple operations in the field and keep the Chairman of the Steuben County Legislature apprised of the situation.

The course is taught by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Emergency Management. The course focuses on Legal Authorities, Resource allocation, and Emergency Management programs so that local governments are ready for the next disaster.

As part of National Telecommunicators Week our office issues service awards for various different titles. Yesterday, Public Safety Director, Tim Marshall, presented Meaghann Snyder with the Administrator of The Year award in honor of her late husband and past Deputy Director of 911, Nick Snyder.

Nick was a dedicated Administrator and proven Leader. Although he is no longer with us physically, his leadership has left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
