FIBER INSTALLATION WORK UNDERWAY IN BATH TOWNSHIP
Residents may notice directional boring crews working in neighborhoods throughout Bath Township in the coming weeks. Frontier and other utility providers have obtained right-of-way permits through the Bath Township Service Department to install new fiber-optic infrastructure. In addition to township road right-of-ways, work is also occurring within Summit County road right-of-ways.
The work is being performed by subcontractors working on behalf of the utility companies. While Bath Township reviews and issues right-of-way permits to ensure compliance with applicable construction standards, Ohio law limits the Township's authority to deny these permits or prohibit utility companies from performing work within the public right-of-way.
As part of the permitting process, the Township requires utility companies to post a performance bond to help ensure that disturbed areas are properly restored following construction. Contractors are responsible for repairing lawns, landscaping, driveways, and other areas impacted by the installation work.
If you observe work that appears unsafe or believe restoration has not been completed properly, please contact the Bath Township Service Department so the concern can be documented and addressed with the utility company.
